What do u think is the most effective way to stanch the cruelty against women !!
The case of a young woman in Delhi who was ostensibly raped on a moving bus sparked outrage from Indian system. This called for a strong action to prevent such incidents from happening again.
So far, the argument has fixated overwhelmingly on law enforcement. Some, like Sushma Swaraj of the Bharatiya Janata Party, called for the accused to be punished with death. “The rapists should be hanged. We need tougher laws to stop rapes,” she told lawmakers on Tuesday. Capital punishment is allowed in India but not for crimes like rape. It’s not just the laws which could make it stop it has to be the overall mindset needs to be changed.
“It is a matter of ignominy that these incidents recur with painful regularity and that our daughters, sisters and mothers are unsafe in our capital city,
A male-controlled system where women have restricted liberties, and are dispirited to speak out in their own defence is the main reason why so many cases of rape happen and go unreported
To prevent cases of abuse, too often the onus is on women, with people extending from family members, friends, communities to politicians give advice and lot of tips of Do’s n Don’t on what to to wear and how to behave. This is a dangerous logic as it implies that women share the blame for abuses of which they are victims.
The Indian public retaliated strongly to the brutal assault on the young woman, with angry messages posted on social media and protests staged in Delhi.
Do you think this will work, i personally feel it wont but the protest and pressure could create more awareness, hence we could be hopeful for the justice.
